Privacy Policy
Givora respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and your rights — in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Who we are
Givora is operated by David Burkett (ABN 90 281 016 332), based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In this policy, “Givora”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that business. You can reach us any time at hello@givora.com.au.
We aim to handle personal information in line with the APPs. (Some very small businesses are currently exempt from parts of the Privacy Act; we choose to follow the APPs regardless, and note that Australian privacy reforms are progressively narrowing that exemption.)
What personal information we collect
We only collect what we need to respond to you and provide our services:
| Information | When / how |
|---|---|
| Your name, charity/organisation name, cause category, who you serve (reach), suburb or council area, and email address | When you complete the “check availability” form on our website |
| Any details you choose to share | When you email us or speak with us |
| Booking details (name, email, chosen time) | If you book a call via our scheduling tool |
| Basic, aggregated technical data (e.g. pages viewed, approximate region, device type) | Automatically, via privacy-friendly analytics and standard server logs — not used to identify you |
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health, religious or political information). Please don’t send us sensitive information unless we’ve asked for it and explained why.
How we use your information
- To confirm how many slots are available in your audience and reply to your enquiry;
- To send you our field guide and information you’ve requested;
- To arrange and hold a fit call and, if you proceed, to provide our services;
- To operate, maintain and improve our website; and
- To meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.
We use your information only for the purposes above or a directly related purpose you’d reasonably expect, unless you consent otherwise or the law requires it.
Cookies & analytics
We keep this deliberately light:
- Essential only. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Cookieless analytics. We use privacy-friendly, cookieless website analytics (GoatCounter) to understand aggregate traffic. It doesn’t use cookies or fingerprinting and doesn’t identify you personally.
- Local storage. We store a single flag in your browser to remember that you’ve dismissed our cookie notice, so it doesn’t reappear on every visit. It contains no personal information.
You can block or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings; the site will still work.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run Givora, and only as needed:
- Netlify — website hosting and form submissions;
- Cal.com — call scheduling (if you book a call);
- GoatCounter — cookieless website analytics;
- Kit — email delivery, if you subscribe to our monthly insight;
- Our email provider — to receive and respond to your enquiries.
We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process data on servers outside Australia (for example in the United States or the European Union). Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs. By using our site or contacting us, you consent to this handling.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure — including using reputable providers, HTTPS encryption on our website, and limiting who can access enquiries. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to delete it when it’s no longer needed.
Direct marketing
We’ll only send you marketing communications where you’d reasonably expect it or you’ve consented, and every such message includes an easy way to opt out. You can also opt out any time by emailing hello@givora.com.au.
Automated decision-making
We do not use automated processes or artificial intelligence to make decisions that would significantly affect you.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it’s wrong or out of date. Email hello@givora.com.au and we’ll respond within a reasonable time. There’s normally no charge; if we ever can’t give access, we’ll explain why in writing.
Children
Our website and services are intended for charity representatives and are not directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first at hello@givora.com.au so we can try to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published here, with the “last updated” date at the top.
